Gold rates continue to rise

On the last day of 2021, the price of gold was Rs 108,025 per 10 grams and Rs 126,000 per tola which was Rs 97,994 and Rs 114,300 a year ago. During the same period, the international gold price fell to $ 1,820 an ounce on January 1, 2021 from $ 1,899. The head of the All Pakistan Jewelry Manufacturers Association (APJMA) said that the rupee's decline against the dollar has offset the impact of the drop in the global gold price last year. In the inter-bank market, it was Rs 159 per dollar on January 1, 2021, compared to Rs 176.51 on December 31, 2021, which increases the cost of imports of raw materials and finished goods more expensive. The price of 10 grams and a tola of gold reached the highest level of Rs 113,854 and Rs 132,800. According to the sales trend in 2021, dwindling purchasing power and rising cost of living and utility bills have affected the sales of jewelry sets, forcing many to bring their old jewelry, which is being melted down into newer sets. Buyers bought three years ago 10 gram gold chains, but now choose chains that weigh two to four grams.
