Breaking a habit is easier said than it seems. To break a bad habit, we must first explain the habit. Habit is described as "a sort out or permanent trend or action, especially one that is difficult to abandon." In general, habits are good things. But what about bad habits - smoking your nails, delays, etc.? Habits are learned, so they can't just be deleted, they can't be returned with more desirable behaviors. Many habits are habitual behaviors that are involved because they have been rewarded in one way or another. A lot of people have habits that they want to break, but they feel they can't do it; it's impossible or very difficult to challenge.
Most bad habits come as a way to deal with situations that can lead to anxiety, anger, boredom, and so on. To break a habit, it is important to identify what the habit triggers. Once you can explain whether it is the situation or the emotional context that triggers the habit, you will be able to better find ways to break the habit and find another way to achieve the same reward. Develop a healthy way.
What are you really getting out of this habit? This can be a really difficult step for us. With smoking, you may be at risk for healthy skin, lung cancer, brown teeth, but it relieves your stress and so it is justified, right? What can you do that is best for you and that will satisfy you? For example, if you smoke because it relieves stress after smoking, you feel relieved.
Remember that it is okay to think about the habit you are trying to break, just imagine and remind yourself of the consequences of breaking this bad habit. It is very important to help break a habit. When you try to break a habit, tell supportive people about your plan, it feels great to support and encourage it. Habits are formed when a behaviour is rewarded in some way, as I mentioned earlier. At the same time, they are being told to find a way to repay themselves for good behaviour.
However, the most successful reward will be the one that comes after breaking this habit. Finally, be patient when you break a bad habit. Behaviour training is a long process, and it takes time to break the habit. Studies show that in most cases it takes 28 days to break the habit. However, the reality is much more complex and its development depends on the individual and the habit. The first few days will be the hardest, but it is important to focus on it and think about the consequences. There will be times when you want to give up when you will be quiet, but you must keep moving forward. Remember to you can do it!
